Top Five Anticipated Bridal Trends for 2023

2023 has arrived, and so has a new year for wedding dress trends. Whether it’s something old with vintage styles returning or something new with novel accents making their debut, every year brings new fashion trends for brides to be on the lookout for.

This year, Designer Lovell from Lovellfaye says to expect more personalization on wedding dresses. Specifically, she anticipates these five bridal trends to rise to popularity in 2023:

1. Statement veils. For those who choose more minimalist, classic dresses but are looking for a unique, stylish addition, a statement veil can be the perfect finishing touch. To complete your wedding day look, you can personalize your veil with a literal statement like Hailey Bieber’s famed “TILL DEATH DO US PART” veil, or add polka dots throughout, floral designs at the end seam and more.

2. Pleats. Pleating adds more dimension to the full bridal look, and designers are incorporating it in many different parts of the dress. For an understated, elegant look, pleats are a gorgeous choice on the sleeves, skirt or bodice.

3. Capes. If you don’t already feel like Superwoman in your dress heading into your wedding day, perhaps you need a little something extra to save the day – a cape. For some dresses, capes are being used in place for sleeves, adding a heroic touch to round out your vision.

4. Feathers. Feathers are back, and not just for cocktail dresses. A modern twist on ostrich feathers is expected to be a popular feature in 2023 wedding gowns. They add a dash of unexpected glamor and can be used as a subtle yet dramatic accent on sleeves or even a veil.

5. Overlay tops. Want multiple looks in one? Consider an overlay top. By adding an overlay top to your gown, you can rock two dresses in one on your big day. You can incorporate sheer, puffy sleeves or a high neck over a strapless dress or even add floral designs or lace for varying textures atop a silk gown. Then, if you want a different dress for your reception or while leaving, simply remove the overlay top for a completely new look.

With any of these trends, you can add your own flair to capture the wedding day look of your dreams. Brides can expect to find some of these trends, like pleats or feathers, available for retail, but other options require a custom designer to complete the piece.
