Frequently Asked Questions

How early do we need to set up a design consultation with you before our wear date?

Currently, we are accepting bookings for 2025 and 2026 brides. To learn more about specific availability, please inquire HERE, as we only take a limited number of clients each year.

What if my heirloom wedding dress is way too big or small?

This is actually quite common – around 80% of our brides need their heirloom wedding dresses resized. No need to worry! We have a variety of creative solutions. Once on a virtual design consultation Lovell will go over specific ways to go about resizing your exact dress. Whether it’s tweaking side seams, repurposing fabric from the skirt (especially if your dress has a long train, giving us more material to work with), reapplying lace, or adding a corset back, we can make it happen. Once we see a picture of you in the dress, we’ll provide you with custom design ideas!

What are the 1st steps to redesign my heirloom wedding dress?

Fill out our inquiry form HERE. Once you book a virtual design consultation please send over pictures of your heirloom wedding dress, so we can begin the redesign thought process.

What do we talk about during the virtual design consultation?

In the virtual design consultation, we discuss different design ideas for your specific heirloom wedding dress, and get to know each other a bit better! Whether you want to redesign your dress for your bridal wardrobe or if you have a specific accessory in mind. We take your photos and make 2-3 sketches over the ideas we talked about so you have a visual representation of what the new design could look like.

Can I adjust the design after booking?

Yes! The design process is always evolving, so we can discuss changes throughout your fittings and adjust as needed. We are always open to new ideas and love when brides get involved in the process. The consultation and sketches give us a base to work from and from there we can get creative and have fun bringing your vision to life!

What happens if my heirloom wedding dress has yellowed or has stains?

If your heirloom wedding dress has yellowed or developed stains, we work with a local dry cleaner who specializes in cleaning heirloom wedding dresses to help restore them to great condition. The approach depends on what you'd like to do with the dress. Some brides prefer to keep the vintage look of their heirloom dress, while others opt to get it cleaned and restored to its original color. We have seen incredible transformations where yellowed or stained dresses are revived to their original, beautiful condition. If stains are present, we've also come up with creative ways to work around them and breathe new life into the dress in a unique and meaningful way during the redesign process. Please let us know if you are interested in wanting your dress cleaned.

How long does a redesign project take?

Average timing is 12-14 weeks. We do have a rush fee if you are wanting your heirloom wedding dress made into an accessory or outfit quicker.

What price point do you start at?

Please reach out for our current redesign price sheet.

Will I get the rest of the dress fabric back?

Yes! We give back all the material that we don’t use for your redesign. We suggest keeping it with the new creation that way if you want to reuse it again you will have the extra material to work with. There are many special ways to use the heirloom material later on - the ideas are endless!
