Something Old, Something New: Honoring Your Grandmother During Wedding Festivities
Getting married is such a special time for the bride, groom and their families as they all come together to celebrate an enduring commitment to love. It’s also a unique time to recognize and cherish loved ones who have raised the couple to become the people they are today.
Celebrating generations of love
Designer Lovell of Lovellfaye works closely with brides to ensure she captures the essence of their dream bridal look while celebrating the women in their lives through redesigned wedding dresses. Taylor Pulfer knew she wanted to honor her grandmother during her wedding weekend. She sought to work with Lovell to redesign her grandmother’s heirloom wedding dress that she wore in 1961, a gown also worn by her late aunt in 1984.
Taylor wanted to keep the integrity of her grandmother’s vintage gown. She loved the original sleeves, neckline and bodice, so Taylor and Lovell decided to resize it and bring up the hem to make it a short, gorgeous dress for her rehearsal dinner.
At the dinner, Taylor pulled off the surprise of a lifetime when her grandmother saw her wearing her redesigned wedding dress and cried tears of joy. The one-of-a-kind, sentimental moment will live with Taylor, her husband and her family forever.
